Witness: Simona Radeva was the director of the Semerdzhiev car wash
Former policewoman Simona Radeva has arrived at the Sofia city court, where she is to testify in the case against Georgi Semerdzhiev. She entered without saying anything to the media. The trial started at 3pm. The former footballer is accused of killing 2 girls in an accident on the capital’s Cherni Vrah Blvd on 5 July.
Semerdzhiev was driving under the influence of drugs and fled after the accident. His house keys were left in the SUV he used to kill the girls. For this he called Simona Radeva, at the time a police officer of the 1 RU of the capital, and she brought him a ladder with which he entered his house, says the prosecutor.
Radeva was disciplinary fired by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Preliminary proceedings concerning the police umbrella that was spread over Semerdzhiev are underway in the prosecutor’s office. No charges have been filed so far. Meanwhile, more than 40 disciplinary proceedings are ongoing at the Interior Ministry.
Maybe if there was a second… a second and a half difference in time, we wouldn’t be talking. Ivan Ovcharov, the taxi driver hit by Georgi Semerdzhiev seconds before the ex-footballer killed the two girls in an accident on July 5 in Sofia, told Sofia city court.
“It all started on Cherni Vrah Blvd., the intersection near the Hemus Hotel. I was waiting at a red light to turn towards the former City Center. I have a habit of looking around.
It’s 2-3 seconds, then I turned green. The next moment there was a brutal impact, I didn’t see any cars or anything. At the speed at which he would have moved – 46 meters per second, I can’t even see,” Ovcharov said.
And he specified that he was coming from Cherni Vrah Blvd., towards downtown, but he started to turn left.
“I just felt a brutal blow, I can’t say that there were people on the canvas,” Ovcharov said.
He indicated that he did not see the signal lights Semerdzhiev was allegedly driving with. He didn’t even feel the brakes. The man’s earliest memory is that someone opened the back door and broke the chain to prevent an explosion, as the car was running on methane.
He explained that he did not arrive at the hospital. He decided there was no need.
Adalbert Krastev, a prosecutor from the military district prosecutor’s office in Sofia was also questioned. Passed the crash a few minutes later.
“It was after 11pm as far as I remember. I was driving down Cherni vrah Blvd., towards downtown. My friend and wife were with me. As I was driving down the avenue, I heard a very loud crash. I paid attention because I was talking to both of them in the car. I stopped, I thought it was a bomb, there was an explosion. I didn’t think it could be an accident,” he said.
After a few minutes I saw a patrol car coming and got out. Half of the car was on the tram line, the other half was in an alley, said the prosecutor, who is only a witness in the case. He didn’t say that he was talking about Semerdzhiev’s car.
He also saw the taxi, went to the taxi driver. He expected him to have more serious injuries. He asked the driver what happened.
“Didn’t I pass the green light?” he asked the driver. And he wondered what had happened. To Krastev’s surprise, he started cleaning his car windows.
Krastev also detailed the two girls’ traumas. He explained that he covered up the girls’ bodies. And he was outraged that many people were taking pictures, but no one was helping him.
He went to Semerdzhiev’s car. There he saw Semerdzhiev’s ID. Krastev said he stayed until the prosecutor on duty arrived. The man who told investigators he “went over there” is missing. Krastev did not see the man testify. However, he thinks he can recognize it.
He explained that the duty prosecutor of the SDVR said that it was about Georgi Semerdzhiev.
Zoro Spasov, who worked at Semerdzhiev’s car wash, also testified. He started working ten days before the accident. His job was to wash the cars. He also cleaned Semerdzhiev’s. The car was an Audi Q7, probably with foreign registration.
The man saw Semerdzhiev driving the jeep with the police light on. He was alone.
He knew Simona Radeva, he was a kind of manager. She watched the cars being washed, but he didn’t see her get in the car. You have not seen Radeva receive a salary. He was paid directly by Semerdzhiev.
On the evening of July 5, they washed Semerdzhiev’s car. Radeva was there, but she left before the former footballer came out of the car wash. Left there about 10.30pm
Simona was gone, I gave the phone to my boss Georgi Semerdzhiev. He told her to bring a ladder. We, with my friend, gave it to him. Simona brought it in her Opel, Spasov stressed. And she explained that they didn’t ask Semerdzhiev what was wrong with him.
He also indicated that he did not see any police officers at the car wash. Once Semerdzhiev asked him if he could be a shepherd and fix a scratch.
We went to Semerdzhiev’s apartment the first time on foot. Is near. Then we called Simona, I went with her and we took the ladder. Simona brought the ladder, Spasov also said. Spasov also said he asked to have the car’s license plates removed. But he didn’t specify which car he was talking about.
Georgi entered the house from the stairs, the man added. And he stressed that he only learned of the incident after receiving a call from SDVR. When asked by Miroslav Hristov, Semerdzhiev’s lawyer, whether he knew via Gorski Patnik, Spasov denied. That’s where Semerdzhiev lives.
On the same day, July 5, there were scratches on Semerdzhiev’s jeep from impact on “Bulgaria” Blvd. It is them that Spasov pasteurs. Simona Radeva told him about it.
Spasov recognized in the photographs the house of Semerdzhiev and the ladder on which the former footballer climbed.
Alexander Isa, who worked at Semerdzhiev’s car wash for only one day, also testified. Zoro Spasov called him. He went on the fifth, he couldn’t remember which month. He went in the evening. Simona was inside. Later he found out the girl’s name. Only after the media made noise.
There was a police can in the jeep, which was on the windshield. With Zoro Spasov, they wanted to dismantle the back seat of Semerdzhiev’s jeep due to a problem with the leather upholstery. There he saw a police baton.
That evening he drove up in Semerdzhiev’s car.
Semerezhiev left at about 10 pm. Issa indicated that he did not see any drug use. After Semerdzhiev left, they started cleaning the car wash.
Semerdzhiev returned after about an hour’s walk. “He told me to drive Zorl’s personal car. I was scared, he had no sneakers and no hat. He was limping slightly. I didn’t see any bloodstains on him,” Isa stressed.
With Zoro, Spasov and Semerdzhiev went on foot to the former footballer’s house. From there they called Radeva from Spasov’s phone.
She came in her own car. She took the ladder from the car wash. She kept it, and Spasov and Isa took down the license plates from her car.
Isa explained that she did not ask Semerdzhiev about the injuries. He thought he had a fight.
He saw Radeva and Semerdzhiev kissing and hugging the “friend”.
Simona’s car was a black Opel Astra. Spasov and I did not understand why they had to dismantle the numbers. Simona Radeva went up to Semerdzhiev’s house, she entered through the main door, Isa also said, after the testimony given to him in the preliminary investigation was read.
