Oppo has released a 30 second clip showing its new contactless charging technology in action. Demo shows Oppo X 2021 rollable phone charging wirelessly in mid-air. The solution looks a bit different than what we’ve seen Xiaomi announce. with Mi Air Cargo.
It’s clear that smartphone makers are moving towards a completely wireless charging experience. Xiaomi recently showed off its Mi Air charging solution, followed by a similar announcement from Motorola. Now, Oppo has released a 30-second clip (see below) showing its concept of a rollable phone charging wirelessly in midair.
Oppo had mentioned the new wireless charging technology yesterday in a press release mocking its MWC Shanghai announcements.
The company hasn’t offered any details, but the demo video shows the Oppo X 2021 rollable phone charging on what looks like a wireless charging pad. The device continues to charge when lifted off the mat, indicating some form of air charging technology.
However, unlike Xiaomi’s solution, Oppo’s new charging method doesn’t seem to have a wide coverage area. My Air Charge is designed to allow remote air-to-air charging within a radius of several meters. Oppo’s technology seems more restricted to the area on top of a wireless charging mat.
However, we are waiting for Oppo to share more details about their plans. As far as you know, their technology is faster, more efficient and ready to roll, unlike Xiaomi’s offering, which won’t see the light of day anytime soon.
We will update this article when we know more.
