This past weekend, a new day of the 2024/2025 School Sports Calendar was held, organized by the Provincial Council of Albacete, under the agreement signed with the General Directorate of Sports of the Board of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha, with activities swimming and cross country.
The Provincial School Age Swimming Championship held its first day of competition, organized thanks to the collaboration of the Castilla-La Mancha Swimming Federation and with the support of the town councils involved. On this first day, tests were held in Villarrobledo (north zone), Albacete (central zone) and Hellín (southern zone). A total of 420 swimmers from all over the province gathered on this opening day.
In the town of Madrigueras, more than 450 runners participated in the second round of the School Age Cross Country Championship, organized with the collaboration of the Castilla-La Mancha Athletics Federation and with the support of the town’s City Council. The event also had the help of the 27 de Agosto Athletics Club of Madrigueras.
The test took place on the Cerro de San Jorge circuit and highlighted the broad participation of athletes from local Sports Schools. As usual, the Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 categories competed, in addition to a test for the Absolute category.
Next day of School Sports
The School Sports Calendar will rest next week and will return on November 23 and 24 with several scheduled competitions. There will be table tennis in Caudete, cross country in Hellín, sports orientation in Abengibre and chess in Albacete.
