OR Flamengo has agreed to sign Gerson from Olympique de Marseille, France. So the Fluminense returns to profit from a negotiation between the Rubro-negro and the French club for the midfielder unveiled in Xerém.
Thanks to FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, Fluminense is entitled to 2.7% of all sales made by Gerson as a training club. Therefore, when the player went to France, Tricolor had around R $ 4 million. Already on his return to Flamengo, it was another R$ 2.2 million.
The Solidarity Mechanism rules state that a training club will benefit from a percentage of the value of player deals ranging from 0.25% to 5%. The calculation depends on the time the athlete spent in associations between the ages of 12 and 23.
In the specific case of Gerson, Fluminense are entitled to 2.7% due to the fact that he arrived at the club at the age of seven and was sold to Roma, then Italian, at the age of 18.
