«See by Contact»: Retrospective of Roberto Huarcaya

The ICPNA of Miraflores presents “See by Contact”, a retrospective exhibition by Roberto Huarcaya, curated by Alejandro León Cannock, which brings together the work developed in the last decade.

«View by Contact» stands out for its innovative approach that combines experimental photography with land art and installation, offering a unique experience to attendees. The exhibition is characterized by its “monumental” photograms, which have been created using traditional and experimental photographic techniques such as cyanotype and Van Dyke brown.

Huarcaya’s work captures the majesty of the Peruvian landscape, from the Pacific coasts, passing through the Andes, to the exuberance of the Amazon forests. Each image invites deep contemplation, which goes beyond simple observation.

«See by Contact» is also a reflection on photographic practice and its ability to capture and transmit the essence of our environment.

Simultaneously, Huarcaya will represent Peru from April to September at the 2024 Venice Biennale with the project titled “Cosmic Traces,” also curated by Alejandro León Cannock. This is a monumental-scale photogram made by the artist in the Bahuaja Sonene National Park (Tambopata, Madre de Dios).

It should be noted that the pianist and photographer Mariano Zuzunaga has been invited to participate in the exhibition. Huarcaya with a piano solo. The exhibition will be open to the public until Sunday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
