Kotb explains to her co-host, Jenna Bush Hager, that she previously did not know what The Hague was. She guessed that the Invictus Games would take place in a military academy of sorts, similar to the American Westpoint. “I thought The Hague would just be a building,” said Kotb.

But nothing could be further from the truth, it turned out when Kotb arrived in the South Holland capital. “It turned out to be a city! With streets, canals and houseboats, so much fun.”

What surprised the American presenter the most was a market in The Hague. “Everyone was enjoying an ice cream or churros! But nobody, literally nobody, was on his or her phone. And no one could control it either. It was bizarre!”

This sighting also almost makes Jenna Bush Hager fall off her chair. “People had a real conversation there?” she asks in disbelief. “Girls in America only walk around with their phones and take selfies, not in The Hague,” said Kotb. “We’re just doing it all wrong in America!” claims the still bewildered Bush Hager.

Kotb concludes her story by explaining that she initially thought that the residents of The Hague do not have a telephone at all, or know it: “But of course they do know telephones!”, she continues her story. “But they just consciously choose not to use it.”

After hearing her lyrical colleague, Bush Hager concludes: „We have to move to The Hague! We’re just moving our talk show there.”
