The 23-year-old man claimed to be a student
According to the prosecution, he lost the money for gambling
23-year-old Alex Dimov, accused of blackmailing a citizen of Burgas and threatening him with murder, was brought to the court in Burgas, where the case for his remand is currently being heard.
Before the magistrates, the young man stated that he was a student.
He was caught during a special operation at the end of last year, minutes after taking part of the requested BGN 50,000 from the blackmailed burgazlia. The victim, who is 35 years old, works in a company, but also offers services himself, from which he earned well, claims that he gave the racketeer a total of BGN 180,000 over a period of nearly a year.
As “24 Chasa” wrote, the two met in a cafe in the city, but both the acquaintance and the subsequent friendship were pre-planned by 23-year-old Alex. He deliberately got close to the bourgeoisie and started asking for small amounts of money on loan. For the third loan, the 35-year-old man gave his friend BGN 10,000 with the stipulation that the young man would start a business from which both would profit.
Before long, the blackmailer began to pressure his friend. He told him that the business was actually related to drugs, that the police knew and was monitoring both of them, and that in order to avoid arrests, it was necessary to give a large sum of money to high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sofia.
Thus began regular extortion, until after nearly a year, the 35-year-old from Burgas gave Dimov a total of BGN 186,000. During that time, the extorted man visibly changed, became extremely worried, depressed, and at times even thought of ending his life. He constantly had the feeling that he was being followed and that he might be arrested at any moment.
Since the extorted person spent all his savings, he started taking quick loans and such from banks, he asked for money from friends.
After the arrest of the blackmailer, it became clear that most of the money was lost by him in casinos.
23-year-old Dimov remains in custody, magistrates decided minutes ago.
