The Secretary of National Defense, General Ricardo Trevilla, told President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo that the military “are motivated” by the great honor we feel in being guided for the first time by a Supreme Commander.” She assured that one of her priorities will be to create the conditions so that women can command troops at all levels.

For his part, the Secretary of the Navy, Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales, highlighted that as the first female president “you take the helm of our ship, a fact that will remain in the history of the nation and that already lives in the heart.” of the Mexicans. “The people are not wrong and have expressed their will.”

The Secretary of the Navy, he said, “pays honors to our commander, presents his respects and subordination to her. With them he supports and reiterates his absolute support for the decision of our people.”

Both expressed their deep respect, loyalty and commitment to adding more women to the Armed Forces.

At Campo Marte, before nearly six thousand elements of the Army, Air Force, National Guard and Navy of Mexico, General Trevilla told him:

He indicated that they will continue to maintain “the momentum and fortitude to face the challenges that arise on this new path that we are beginning. Postulates that are now exalted, due to the enormous participation of women in the public life of the country.”

The head of the Sedena gave an example of the predominant role women had since the Mexican Revolution: “Amelia Robles, who disguised herself as a man to be able to fight with the revolutionary troops; Adela Velarde, known as Adelita, who initially worked as a nurse in the revolutionary movement; “Carmen Alanís, who took up arms in Casas Grandes (Chihuahua) and participated in the taking of Ciudad Juárez.”

He mentioned that 47,907 women make up the armed forces of land, air and the National Guard, which has consolidated their participation in the entire military structure.
