• They benefit with the production of healthy and ecological food for 40 families
• The goal is to continue these actions in other municipalities
In continuity with the “State support program with incentives for economic reactivation and agricultural development”, carried out by the Secretariat for Agricultural Development (Sedagro), and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Food Forests have been installed in three municipalities, a benefit in the production of organic and groceries for 40 families.
This project represents a system that tries to copy the structure and functioning of a natural forest, incorporating medicinal, aromatic plants, as well as forest trees, shrubs, vines, perennials and annuals, for the production of food.
For this work, first an excavation is carried out 50 centimeters deep, which is called the “hugel” bed; later the space is filled with firewood and dry matter for moisture retention and prolonged fertilization, this space will capture rainwater and it will be possible to grow various species.
These actions were carried out in the San Bartolo, San Andrés, San Felipe and San Jacinto de Hueyapan communities; Jumiltepec and Ocoxaltepec de Ocuituco; and Tetela and Tlalmimilulpan de Tetela del Volcán.
The goal is to continue these actions by extending this benefit to more families, including the municipalities of Atlatlahucan, Huitzilac, Tlalnepantla and Totolopan.
