Urban police on the street until one in the morning. The first response from the municipal administration of Battipaglia to the security alarm that has been animating the city debate for months is in the project drawn up by the general Fausto Ciriaco Troisicommander, for a few more hours, of the municipal police, who was approved by the council led by the mayor Cecilia French. On the plate there are little more than 22mila euro: this is a portion of the money paid into the municipal coffers by violators of the rules of Traffic Laws who were fined by the Battipaglia white helmets. They will serve as «motivation» (a term used by the general himself in his report, eight pages long) for the agents of good will who will come forward to take part in the extraordinary activities planned through the Security Project.
The compensation
For every single initiative of those planned, the women and men of Command of Via Rosa Jemma they will be remunerated with a fee of 120 europayable only upon the outcome of a report, signed by superiors, which demonstrates the achievement of the set objectives. Incentives that will be recognized until the allocated funds run out, presumably by the end of February 2025. The most interesting of the missions delegated to the Battipaglia policemen is the unprecedented night shift: General Troisi has proposed the preparation of two weekly moonlight services, preferably between Friday and Saturday and between Saturday and Sunday. Membership is on a voluntary basis. The shift will start at 8.30pm and end at 1am.

Resource allocation and community safety perspective?
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today about the latest security measures proposed in Battipaglia. To start, could you briefly introduce yourselves and share your roles in the discussion surrounding the new safety initiatives?
Guest 1: My name is Maria, and I am a member of the local community council. We have been actively involved in discussing the security concerns raised by residents and working with the municipal administration to find solutions.
Guest 2: I am Officer John from the Battipaglia Municipal Police. As a part of the force, I am keenly aware of the challenges we face in maintaining public safety and ensuring the laws are being enforced.
Me: Great to have you both here. Let’s begin with the new initiative proposed by General Fausto Ciriaco Troisi. What are your thoughts on the idea of utilizing funds from traffic law violators to incentivize police personnel?
Guest 1: Initially, I was skeptical about this approach. However, it seems like a good way to allocate resources and address the budget constraints faced by the municipality. If it helps improve safety, then it’s worth considering.
Guest 2: As an officer on the ground, I welcome any additional resources that can support our efforts. It’s also important to note that these funds are coming from individuals who have broken the law, so it feels fair that they contribute to improving the overall safety of our community.
Me: Could you expand on how these funds will be used specifically? Will there be any specific areas of focus or increased patrols planned?
Guest 1: The city plans to use the funds to pay officers for extra shifts during night hours, which is currently a concern for many residents. They also intend to implement additional measures such as increased street lighting and better camera surveillance.
Guest 2: Yes, we will be conducting extra patrols during the night shifts to address any potential issues that may arise. We aim to maintain a visible presence on the streets to deter crime and ensure that citizens feel safe. Furthermore, the additional lighting and surveillance cameras will provide a greater level of visibility for both residents and officers.
Me: That’s great to hear. Moving on to the topic of the extended night shifts, what are your thoughts on this measure from both a
