Security Service of Ukraine puts an end to giant bot network

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announces that it has managed to put an end to a giant bot network that was used to spread Russian propaganda.

The network consisted of just over a million bots and the servers were reportedly located in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Vinnytsia.

The hackers behind the bot network are also said to have used 5,000 SIM cards to register fake accounts on social media.

Since the war broke out in February, Ukraine’s security services have taken down 500 YouTube channels, 1,500 Telegram channels and thousands of social media accounts said to have engaged in Russian propaganda.

Pictures from the crackdown have been published on website of the security service.
