The Styria State Police Directorate, Security and Administrative Police Department, has established a security area around the Merkur Arena. The regulation applies from February 18, 2024, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The security area includes the area within the following streets: Conrad-von-Hötzendorf-Straße No. 151 – Evangelimanngasse – via Münzgrabenstraße – Harmsdorfgasse to No. 12 (Krzg. Weinholdstraße) – Weinholdstraße to No. 31 – Dr. Lister-Gasse to Krzg. Lortzinggasse – Lortzinggasse to Krzg. Paul-Ernst-Gasse – south to Karl-Huber-Gasse No. 11 – west to Raiffeisenstraße no. 198 – Raiffeisenstraße north to house no. 166 (church) – north-west to Krzg. Lisztgasse – Kollwitzgasse – Kollowitzgasse to Eduard-Keil-Gasse – heading west to Kasernstrasse – Kasernstrasse heading north to Senefeldergasse – diagonally across permanent allotment gardens to Raiffeisenstrasse No. 61 – Conrad-von-Hötzendorf-Strasse No. 151.

Fines and arrests
From this security area, public security authorities can expel people who are committing or have committed dangerous attacks against life, health or property in connection with a major sporting event. At the same time, they are prohibited from entering the security area. Persons who enter the security area at this major sporting event despite a ban on entry are committing an administrative offense and can be punished with a fine of up to 1,000 euros and, in the event of irrecoverability, a substitute prison sentence of up to 4 weeks. If the person continues to commit a criminal offense despite being warned, they can be arrested.
