A security guard was assaulted at the fair on the Malieveld in The Hague last night, the police reported. The security guard suffered serious injuries. A 24-year-old man from Amsterdam has been arrested.
The assault happened at the entrance to the fair. A man had to be searched because the detection gates went off. The man refused to cooperate and walked onto the fairgrounds.
The security guard stopped him and sent him to the exit, but he refused to leave. A struggle then ensued, during which the security guard was held in a neck clamp. He was injured as a result. Other security personnel came to help. Police said the incident had a “huge impact” on the victim.
The Amsterdam resident is suspected of attempted manslaughter or attempted serious assault. He has also received a fair ban. The man has to appear in court tomorrow.
