Security bill: from Turin the square to Mattarella, ‘it is subversive’

(ANSA) – TURIN, SEPTEMBER 28 – A protest against the Security Bill took place today in Turin in Piazza Castello. A delegation of demonstrators was received in the Prefecture, which was asked to take responsibility for communicating to the government the request to withdraw the decree, and to transmit to the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, a document drawn up by the ‘Free Network of fight’. “This bill – explained Gianluca Vitale, a lawyer from Turin, one of the members of the delegation – is subversive of the constitutional order because it tends to radically deny the freedom to disagree, protest, fight. But a democracy that does not accept this type of conflict is not a democracy: it’s something else.” In the square we saw symbols and flags of parties, movements and committees including Rifondazione Comunista, No Tav, Non una di Meno, Piedmont Coordination of Human Rights, anarchists. The demonstration was an opportunity to also relaunch other current issues such as the stop “genocide” in the Middle East or, locally, the “no” to the construction of a building complex in a green area on the outskirts of the city called Meisino Park.
