A carter with the alias “Sadou” was sentenced at first instance to 36 months in prison and 1 million CFA francs, all firm for having given blows and wounds to a man. Not agreeing with this decision, he appealed.
The facts date from May 17, 2022. On that day, 19-year-old Sadou was apparently animated by the effect of the devil. Following an argument, he kicks an old man in the face with a chisel. Arrested on these facts, he appeared at the bar of the Tribunal de Grande Instance of Bobo, on June 28, 2022, he was sentenced to 36 months in prison and a fine of 1 million CFA francs as firm. In addition, the court sentenced him to pay the sum of 83,000 CFA francs for medical expenses. Eight days later, that is to say on July 05, 2022, he decided to appeal the first decision.
Before the judges of the Court of Appeal, he admits the facts but says that it is the devil who dragged him into all these errors. I did not commit the act expressly. I was in discussion that day with a gentleman and the victim came to intervene, then squeeze my neck. In anger, I automatically gave him several blows with a chisel that I was holding. And those beatings left him with wounds on his head and face,” he told the court.
After all, the public prosecutor’s office considered that the defendant Sadou does not benefit from extenuating circumstances. Therefore, requires confirmation of the first sentence. The deliberation is expected for May 08, 2023.
