The Yogi Adityanath government has announced Section 144 in Uttar Pradesh in the wake of the shooting death of former MP Atiq Ahmed and his brother. Heavy police security has been imposed across the state. The holidays of the police officers from tomorrow have been canceled for an indefinite period. Meanwhile, the government announced a judicial inquiry into the murders. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appointed a three-member judicial commission. Atiq and his brother were shot while being taken to Prayagraj Medical College for medical treatment. The former MP was killed within hours of his son Asad Ahmed’s last rites.

Sources said three men fired at Atiq and Ashraf. Atiq was shot dead when he came under the pretense of being a media worker. The assailants surrendered after firing. The police have arrested three assailants. The dead bodies of both have been kept in the medical college.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had assured that Atiq Ahmed’s gang would be eradicated. After this, Asad died in a massive operation which the Uttar Pradesh police had not conducted in recent times. On Friday, Atiq had sought permission from the magistrate to attend his son’s funeral.
