Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Ministry of Social Affairs) Hartono Laras admitted that he was hit hard by the corruption case Corona Social Assistance who ensnared the Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara as a suspect.
“We are devastated. In the midst of our efforts to continue to work hard to carry out our duties and mandates, especially in distributing social assistance,” he said at an online press conference, reported by Antara, Sunday (6/12).
Moreover, continued Hartono, hard work requires more efforts to ensure a social safety net for affected communities.
Even so, he revealed that from the beginning the Ministry of Social Affairs had asked for assistance and assistance to legal officials to smooth the distribution of covid-19 social assistance so that there was no fraud.
“Both from the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to carry out supervision,” he explained.
In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs has also collaborated with the Attorney General’s Office to prevent leakage of the covid-19 social assistance budget.
“The budget in 2020 is very large. Therefore, we work together and ask for assistance to law enforcement officials,” he explained.
During the nine months of the Covid-19 pandemic, Hartono also admitted to prioritizing the principle of openness in managing the social assistance budget.
“We also continue to strive for the principles of accountability to work,” he said.
It is known that Juliari was arrested by the KPK on Sunday (6/12) in the morning. It is suspected that he received a bribe worth Rp. 17 billion from the distribution of the social assistance for the corona groceries that flowed to the community amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
