Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Party Golkar Lodewijk Paulus spoke about the 2019 General Election which caused polarization in the community. Lodewijk mentioned the efforts of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) to prevent polarization.
“Well, at what level is the problem of polarization in Indonesia happening? As stated by the General Chair of the PKB, Pak Prabowo and Pak Jokowi have embraced, but underneath it is still crowded. If you don’t believe we have WA groups, when we were in high school, junior high school was still fast. Why is it happening like this is because the polarization is happening at the support level grassrootsnot at the elite level,” said Lodewijk in the CNN Indonesia Trusted Election Channel Launching event which was broadcast on Monday CNN Indonesia TVMonday (1/8/2022).
Therefore, Lodewijk said that political education should be given to the people. According to him, political education can be done through social media.

“Well, if it happens to supporters, then how do we provide political education to these people, so what is the media? Social media is growing a lot,” he explained.
Prediction of 3 Candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election
Lodewijk says Golkar, PAN, and PPP have formed KIB. He said the formation of the coalition was one way to reduce polarization.
“Well, Golkar, of course, with PAN and also with PPP, have formed an axis called the United Indonesia Coalition, this is part of our efforts to prevent or reduce the polarization,” he said.
Currently, said Lodewijk, there are indeed 4 axes that are predicted to form a coalition, namely the PDIP, NasDem, Gerindra, and KIB axis. However, according to him, in 2024 there will only be 3 pairs of candidates running for the presidential election.
“What are the facts now, now people say there are 4 axes, there is a PDIP axis, there is a NasDem axis, there is a Gerindra axis, there is a axis Golkar. Will it continue until 2024? People say maybe 3, so if 3 means we are part of Golkar’s efforts, PAN and PPP prevent polarization because there are 3 pairs of candidates,” he said.
