Princess Beatrice, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and eldest daughter of Prince Andrew, quietly married Italian businessman Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on Friday in a private ceremony in Windsor, Buckingham Palace said.
Originally scheduled for May 29 in London, the marriage was postponed due to the new coronavirus pandemic. The new date had not been announced.
The “private ceremony” was held Friday morning at the Royal Chapel of Windsor, in the presence of the Queen (94 years old), her husband Prince Philip (99 years old) and the young woman’s “close family”, and this, in “conformity” with the recommendations of the government to fight against the new coronavirus, according to the palace of Buckingham.
Elizabeth II has been retired since March 19 at Windsor Castle, about 40 kilometers west of London, with her husband due to the pandemic.
Princess Beatrice, 31, is the daughter of Andrew, second son of Queen Elizabeth II, and Sarah Ferguson. His parents are divorced. Princess Beatrice is ninth in the order of succession to the British throne, her younger sister Eugenie, tenth.
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 37, is a wealthy real estate tycoon, jet-setter and cricket fan. He is divorced and already the father of a little boy.
Princess Beatrice of York’s wedding bouquet was placed on the grave of the unknown warrior at Westminster Abbey after her marriage, in keeping with tradition.
