Secret plan revealed

It shows one review the news agency Reuters has done.

– The infiltration went much further than previously known, they write.

When the Russians invaded the Chernobyl nuclear power plant on February 24, they were met by 169 members of Ukraine’s National Guard who apparently laid down their weapons without offering resistance.

Within two hours, the nuclear power plant was in Russian hands, and they could set their sights on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

Recently, several of the top people around Zelenskyi have been fired, including the then head of the prosecution, Iryna Venediktova, and the then head of the SBU security service, Ivan Bakanov.

Prolonged operation

Reuters’ review shows that the Russian takeover of Chernobyl was not a coincidence, but part of a long-term Russian infiltration operation.

The aim was to infiltrate Ukraine with secret agents.

The news agency has conducted interviews with several officials in Russia and Ukraine, and reviewed Ukrainian court documents and statements related to an investigation into the employees at Chernobyl.

The head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, confirms that Russia had agents in the Ukrainian defense when the invasion was launched.

– In addition to the external enemy, we unfortunately have an enemy among us. This enemy is at least as dangerous, says Danilov to Reuters.

Now Ukraine has started an investigation into what the National Guard did at Chernobyl, to find out if they acted illegally.

Agents were sent out last year

A source said to have been close to the planning of Russia’s invasion has told Reuters that Russian agents were sent to Chernobyl in 2021 to bribe officials and prepare a “clean takeover” of Chernobyl.

These statements have not been verified, but Ukrainian authorities are investigating a former top Ukrainian intelligence service, Andriy Naumov, who is suspected of treason. According to the intelligence service, he shared security secrets with Russia.

The head of security at the nuclear power plant, Valentin Viter, is also in prison, suspected of treason.

In an interrogation, Viter is said to have told about a telephone conversation on 24 February, in which he asked the commander of the National Guard to “spare his people”.

– I said it to prevent a bloodbath, he says.

Fail

Sources close to the Kremlin are said to have said that Russia’s plan was to activate “sleeper agents” inside Ukraine’s security authorities.

The Chernobyl operation was a partial victory, but the Russians failed to take the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Several of the Russian soldiers are said to have failed in their missions.

– The Kremlin trusted clowns who didn’t know much. But they always say what the leadership wants to hear, otherwise they don’t get paid, a leader of the pro-Russian separatist government in eastern Ukraine told Reuters.

Major trust issues

Putin and his men in the Kremlin expected a quick takeover of Ukraine. It did not happen, but the Russians have managed to create major trust problems in the Ukrainian presidential office. Earlier this summer, among other things, three of Volodomyr Zelenskyj’s most important supporters were fired.

Among these was the then head of the security service, Ivan Bakanov. He is also suspected of treason.

In addition, Zelenskyy has said that 651 cases of suspected treason are being investigated.

– More than 60 officials of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General’s Office are working against Ukrainian interests, the Ukrainian president said.
