Seconds Netanyahu Gives Israel Green Light to Kill Hezbollah Boss

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu it is said that he gave the green light to the army to kill the leader Hizbullah Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, Lebanon, just minutes before he addresses the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in New York, USA, on Friday (27/9).

A senior Israeli official even revealed that Netanyahu had been planning an operation to kill Nasrallah for the past few months after tensions between Tel Aviv and Hezbollah escalated and they launched airstrikes on his each other

“Netanyahu had authorized the attack before he gave his speech at the UN,” the official was quoted as saying Business Insider.

He said that Netanyahu’s departure to the UN general assembly was actually aimed at distracting Nasrallah to give a “false sense of security”, so that Hezbollah would think that Israel would not launch a major attack on Lebanon while the PM was abroad.

An Israeli official said that his country’s intelligence had discovered that Nasrallah and several other Hezbollah leaders were holding a meeting at their “headquarters” in Beirut when the attack took place.

AFP also reports something similar. The Israeli attack on Beirut that killed Nasrallah occurred at the same time as Netanyahu’s speech at the UN General Assembly.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office later released a photo it said showed Netanyahu authorizing the attack. According to The Times of Israel, the photo was apparently taken while Netanyahu was at his hotel in New York shortly before he went to the UN headquarters and gave a speech.

When he was speaking before the UN General Assembly, in the middle of his speech Netanyahu also showed that Israel had been successful in winning against several “terrorist” militias in the Middle East.

“I will bring another message to this general assembly and the world out there: we won,” Netanyahu said on the podium at the UN General Assembly.

This was said by Netanyahu shortly after Israel said that they succeeded in killing Nasrallah through an air strike on Beirut. Soon after, Hezbollah also confirmed the death of Nasrallah.

In addition to Nasrallah, an Israeli air strike on Friday also killed another Hezbollah leader, Nabil Kaouk, as well as the Brigadier General commander of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
