The secondary school in Bilthoven, which closed its doors on Thursday due to a threatening email, will also remain closed on Friday, a school spokesperson reported. Pupils from De Werkplaats Children’s Community received the message on Tuesday evening with a photo of a firearm. The police speak of a “serious threat”.
“I’m going to shoot you all on Thursday, July 2, just enjoy your life,” it said AD in the mail. The date appears to be an error on the part of the sender, as July 2 falls on a Saturday. It is still unclear who the sender and what the motive is.
The so-called triangle, consisting of the police, the Public Prosecution Service and the municipality, consulted on Thursday and then advised to keep the doors closed on Friday. “We will follow this advice,” said the spokesperson.
The parents of the students have been notified. If they have any concerns or questions, they can contact the school’s mentors.
Police are investigating who made the threat. The email arrived around 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday and was then shared on social media. It is not yet known when the school will reopen.
