The second Wonder Woman film will be screened in Dutch cinemas from December 16. Distributor Warner Bros reported this on Thursday. The Netherlands is one of the first countries in the world where the film will be shown.
In de VS is Wonder Woman 1984, as the official title says, can only be seen from Christmas Day. The film will be released there simultaneously in the cinemas and on streaming platform HBO Max.
When asked why the film is released earlier in the Netherlands, a spokesperson for Warner Bros tells NU.nl that he will never make any statements about this. The other big title playing in Dutch cinemas this Christmas is the war epos The Battle of the Scheldt, the most expensive Dutch production in fifteen years. This film can be seen a day later, from December 17.
Wonder Woman 1984 is one of the last major films with a premiere date still planned for this year. Other great titles, such as the new James Bond movie and the ninth Fast & Furiousfilm, have been postponed to 2021.
Gal Gadot returns in the sequel as superhero Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins once again directing. The Dutch model Doutzen Kroes has a supporting role, as can be seen from the trailer.
The film will be released in the Netherlands in 2D, 3D, 4D, Dolby Vision, IMAX and ScreenX.
