Italy, Italians and Covid -19. Second Wave: the struggle of the Healthcare Technicians of Medical Radiology has begun again.
Dear Director,
the memory of the end of March is still alive, when I wrote a letter in which I felt proudly, in those moments so hard in the fight against Covid-19, citizenship that supports that universal right and need that has always distinguished our country, after decades of spending cuts and criticisms of its efficiency: Public Health.
The memory of praise, banners, news headlines, towards doctors and health personnel, who worked 24 hours a day to save lives at the cost of sacrificing theirs, is still alive.
For many this summer it seemed all over, and instead the fight against the pandemic has started again stronger than before, and the Nation has let itself be seized, not exactly prepared, together with its National Health System, already on the verge of collapse.
To date, We TSRM, more aware and experienced, are back on the front line in the fight against Covid -19: Our work, with a sudden X-ray or CT examination of the chest, allows the visualization of any lung infection in a very short time and therefore to establish what the patient’s diagnostic path will be.
The same is true for patients who are inpatient positive: TSRM, in close contact and at obvious risk of contagion, carries out control radiographs.
Allow me to make a note: The felt difference between the before and the now is the different tact of the citizen towards the disease: if before this he feared and collaborated, today he is less suspicious and seems to take everything more lightly. My personal invitation is to remain extremely cautious and follow the anti-infection guidelines to the letter.
In conclusion, thank you all TSRM and all Health care professions indiscriminately, for the cohesion and determination that each of them has been placing since the beginning of this nightmare. We are strong, we hold on.
