Second wave of coronavirus in China: Beijing to test 8 million people

Following the rebound of the Covid-19 epidemic in Beijing, eight million people will be tested there for the new coronavirus. As of Sunday, 7.7 million tests had been delivered in the capital, which has 20 million inhabitants, according to local authorities.

After the detection of an outbreak in a market in a district of Beijing, level two security was put in place and certain districts of the capital put in containment. Whoever wants to leave Beijing, must now present a negative coronavirus test and cannot go to risk areas. Since this rebound, 300 infections have been confirmed in the megalopolis.
