Second time lucky: Louise still wins ‘The Voice of Flanders’ years after she gave up

A first in the history of The voice of Flanders, because for the first time someone wins the game that also appeared in a previous season. Louise Goedefroy of Affligem made it to her surprise. “This is very strange,” she stammered.

In the final, the group of five finalists was first narrowed down to the top three finalists. All candidates sang a song, which quickly proved to be the latest achievement for both the famous amberjack Jente De Sadeleer and Wesley Ngoto, the teenager with the deep male voice.

Louise Goedefroy comes from Ternat and now lives in Affligem. She also participated the previous year The voice of Flanders but then it was the great bad luck of the season. Three coaches turned away during the blind auditions, but Louise passed out before the battles. She fell onto her chin, breaking both jaws. Since she could barely speak, singing was impossible.

The musical adventure soon ended, but Louise didn’t give up and signed up again. As with her first appearance, Natalia turned away and the two decided to get back into business.

Looking back, Louise is very happy that she made it this far, and not in the previous edition. She says she has grown a lot as a person in the last year. She now dares to defend herself a lot more and she says she was on stage with a lot more confidence every time. She has blossomed as an artist and coach Natalia would also have something to do with it. During the workshops, she put her poulain instead of her because she doesn’t use her jaws properly when she sings. The video, in which Natalia imitated Louise, was enthusiastically received by the media. But Louise says she’s glad Natalia played her cards openly.

According to her father, who was regularly present during the recordings, she can sing both jazz and modern pop songs. “He IS a chameleon in the music business.” And man it turned out to be right. Louise herself was surprised week after week that the musical fairy tale continued to last for her.

During the final she sang I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor, an appropriate song that she had wanted to perform for some time. ‘If you make it to the final, you can do it,’ Natalia reasoned – and so it happened.

She has a full time job as a spokesperson for Pairi Daiza, she is building a house with her boyfriend and has also taken The voice of Flanders Bee. His schedule has been more than full in recent weeks. It has also received a lot of support from the well-known Walloon wildlife park. Her big boss sent her congratulations every Friday night. Her daily work was done by her Walloon colleague last week.

It is the second year in a row that coach Natalia has won the competition. That was also the case with Grace Khuabi last year. Louise is left with a recording contract and an amount of 25,000 euros from the victory.

The silver and bronze went to soldier Johan from Leopoldsburg and favorite Evert from Kalmthout.
