While a new carousel accident caused a serious injury at Luna Park in Cap d’Agde (Hérault) this Wednesday, August 30, the circumstances of the tragedy are becoming clearer. As our colleagues from Midi Libre explain, the victim, a 17-year-old who worked on the attraction, is still between life and death.
A minor employee in an irregular situation
In a press release, the public prosecutor of Béziers Raphaël Balland, explains that the young man was caught by a basket around 1:30 am. The young person domiciled in Yonne would be a concealed worker. The accident took place during the last ride of the attraction.

The situation of the employee was revealed to the investigators by the son of the manager of the attraction, aged 22, during his custody. He has since been released and his father, “who was absent the day of the accident”, was placed in police custody in turn this Thursday, August 31.
Victim still in coma
“The victim is still in critical condition,” the prosecutor said in his statement. “According to the first elements collected, he was hit in the head by a gondola from the attraction called ‘V max’ consisting of an arm rotating two eight-seater nacelles, while the carousel was occupied by used people”. The young man suffers from a traumatic brain injury.

After the accident, he was quickly airlifted to Montpellier University Hospital. He has since been in a coma.
