Second Season ‘Squid Game’ Officially Confirmed | TV

TVIt’s official: the hugely popular South Korean series ‘Squid Game’ is getting a second season. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed the news in an interview with AP. “It’s too early to say what the new series will be about.”

In ‘Squid Game’, 456 adults are taken to a mysterious island to play ‘a series of children’s games’. Whoever is left at the end can go home with a huge sum of money. The show was extremely well received by the public and is the most popular Netflix series ever.

It was almost obvious that the streaming service would ask for a sequel. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk now officially confirms the news: “There is so much demand for a second season. I almost feel like the audience leaves us no choice. But I can indeed tell you that there will be a second season.”

“I’m fully engaged in the planning process,” the writer adds. “But it’s too early to say what the new series will be about. And when the sequel will come out. But I promise you this: Gi-Hun will come back, and he will do something for the world.”

Not rich

Earlier, Hwang Dong-hyuk said he didn’t get filthy rich from ‘Squid Game’. “But I do have enough,” he claimed. “Enough to put food on the table for my family, that’s all I need. It’s not like Netflix paid me a bonus for making ‘Squid Game’ such a success. That was not included in the contract.”
