The long-awaited second season of House of the Dragon, the acclaimed prequel to Game of Thrones, finally has a confirmed premiere date for this summer.

Fans will be able to return to Westeros and immerse themselves in the intriguing history of House Targaryen as they witness the devastating civil war known as the Dance of Dragons, which has divided the family into two factions: The Greens and The Blacks.

Although the exact details of the second season are being kept secret, it is known that the series is based on the novel “Fire and Blood” by George RR Martin.

The cast of the second season will feature a mix of well-known actors and new talent. New cast members include Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong.

Other actors joining the cast include Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower and Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull. In addition, several actors will return to play their characters from the first season, including Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Eve Best and Matthew Needham

Ryan Condal revealed in an interview with HollywoodReporter:

“We are excited to return to filming with members of our original family, as well as new talent on both sides of the camera”

“All your favorite characters will soon conspire at council tables, march their armies, and ride their dragons into battle. “We can’t wait to share what we have planned.”

Additionally, one of the most exciting news for fans is the showrunner’s promise that there will be more dragons in season two.

Confirmed release date

After production delays due to writers’ and actors’ union strikes, fans can rest assured as the second season of House of the Dragon will hit our screens in June this year.
