Second round of municipal and community elections: mob voters

In the 7 communes of Martinique which must elect a municipal team and community councilors today, we have seen long queues in front of the polling stations. This trend observed this morning contrasts with the midday participation rate. It is 18.17%.

In Saint-Jospeh, where the outgoing mayor leaves his seat after 19 years, this election mobilizes voters.
Since 7 am this morning, many of the 12,190 voters have gone to the polling stations in order to slip their ballot into the ballot box.

However, the participation rate in Martinique at noon is 18.17%. It is already 28 points less than in the first round.
Indeed, at the same time on March 15, 2020, out of the 7 municipalities concerned today by this election, 46% of those registered had voted.
And if we compare this participation rate to that of the second round of municipal 2014 at the same time, it is also 5 points lower. At the midday of the second round of the previous municpales the participation rate was indeed 23.20%.

It remains to be seen whether participation will be at least as high as in previous municipal elections. At the end of the poll 54.42% of the voters had indeed carried out their civic duty.
