Second Race for Organ and Tissue Donation: Spreading the Culture of Donation in Puebla

With the participation of more than a thousand people from Puebla, the Institute of Security and Social Services of Workers at the Service of the Powers of the State of Puebla (ISSSTEP) held the Second Race for organ and tissue donation “Love is donating”.

In this activity, Amaury Alejandro Trejo Rivasgeneral director of ISSSTEP, pointed out that currently only four out of every 100 thousand people in the country are organ and tissue donors, while more than 20 thousand patients are waiting for an organ and/or tissue, hence the importance of disseminating actively the culture of donation.

For his part, Adalberto Poblano Ordóñez, director of Planning, Teaching and National Coordination, representing José Salvador Aburto Morales, general director of the National Transplant Center (CENATRA)highlighted Puebla’s work in this matter to help improve the lives of people who need it.

Yadira Lira Navarro, director of the Poblano Sports Institute, invited attendees to lead a healthy life through sports.

Present at the event were: Araceli Soria Córdoba, Secretary of Health; Azucena Rosas Tapia, deputy president of the Health Commission; Micaela Eugenio Marquez, general director of the Disability Institute of the State of Puebla; Mario Alberto Cruz González, general director of the Poblano Administrative Committee for the Construction of Educational Spaces; as well as Alfredo Gómez Palacios, representative of the SNTE section 52 and Lucia Jovita Pérez López, general secretary of the Alternative Trade Union Movement.

ISSSTEP invites the population to say “yes” to organ and tissue donation and talk about it with their families because love means donating.
