Since the beginning of the first phase two weeks ago, more than 32,000 construction sites in the city have been allowed to work again. In addition, retailers could take orders over the phone and online and hand them over to their buyers in the store – now, in the second phase, public traffic is also allowed. Two more phases are still pending, each of the four phases of the relaxation process is set to last two weeks.
The US state of New York with around 19 million inhabitants, in which the metropolis of the same name is located, has been badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic. More than 390,000 people have been infected with the virus so far, and around 30,000 have died after being infected. The number of cases has fallen significantly in recent weeks following strict restrictions and hygiene rules.
