Second Midtown Immigrant Assistance Center announced

Initially, the center located in Hotel Row will serve and welcome 200 families with small children as shelter and shelter, providing them with food and clothing.

Juan Hernández, resident of New York, indicates:

“As an act of humanity, I think it’s very good, because taking them to those shelters where there are so many people is horrible, but if they have good comforts here, welcome, I think it’s very nice.”

This second center will provide free assistance in accessing services and resources to be integrated in New York City. Here they will be provided with pathways for medical assistance, education on immigration and legal services, school enrollment for young children of newcomers, and mental health counseling.

As New Yorker James Tassie agrees:

“I think it’s great, we should be more compassionate, this country was founded by immigrants, I don’t think we should close the doors to others who come, the most humane way is to open the doors,” he says.

Mayor Adams pointed out that this crisis is not that of homelessness, but a humanitarian crisis, created by the hand of humans, referring to the governors of Texas and Arizona, and that this issue requires another kind of help, for which these centers will serve as “selection” points to provide the assistance newcomers need.

Luis Arturo Pérez, immigrant and resident of New York, says that the issue of children, which is the most delicate, because they are the ones who suffer along the way, those who undergo the crusade, is really hard for a family.

“You are already walking through the desert risking your life, as well as being bitten by an animal, or with the groups of signs that are on that side, you can see all this…, but you rely on God, says Pérez.

The mayor reiterated his position of solidarity, compassion and open arms for all immigrants arriving in New York, sent from Texas and Arizona.

Juan Hernandez reiterated:

“I am an immigrant, I come from Colombia and all my friends and colleagues are from other countries, that is New Yorkers, Americans, not nearly all, almost all of us are foreigners, so this is the city for everyone. “

The mayor pointed out that New York is a city of immigrants and that they have already hosted more than 18,600 people in hotels and reception centers, this new center, as we said, will only be for families with small children.
