Second hurricane in two weeks makes landfall in Central America

Many residents of the coastal city of Puerto Cabezas in eastern Nicaragua have been evacuated, but the shelters have no room to accommodate everyone. The Nicaraguan vice president says the government is doing everything it can to protect and evacuate the population. She also announced that Taiwan has pledged emergency aid in the form of 800 tons of rice.

Iota is the thirtieth storm in the Atlantic hurricane season to be named this year. It is the first time that two hurricanes hit the area in November. Scientists and administrators from the affected region say this is due to climate change.
