More than 1,000 El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) students received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine last month, and now the District and its partners at Immunize El Paso are ready to deliver the second dose.

According to EPISD officials, there will be 10 clinics in schools across the District to complete the immunization regimen for those who participated in the program last month.

“We saw tremendous participation during our first dose clinics and we are encouraged by their participation,” said Alana Bejarano, EPISD Director of Health Services.

“It is now imperative that the students and adults who received their first dose with us go ahead and put on the second to truly protect our community against this deadly virus,” he added.

Officials said only students and staff who received the vaccine at an EPISD clinic can participate and must register for an appointment at: https://go.izep.org/episd.

Participants are asked to bring the vaccination card that Immunize El Paso provided them at the time of their first vaccination and to make an appointment at their original vaccination site.

‘Vacune Before You Graduate’ is a collaboration between EPISD and Immunize El Paso to provide the vaccine to as many students as possible in the District before the end of the school year.

Students 12 years and older are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine, it was reported.
