A Northern Irish man suspected of killing 39 Vietnamese in a refrigerated truck in England last year has pleaded guilty. He is guilty of 39 charges of manslaughter, he said in a London court.
The 40-year-old man works for a transport company. He is seen as the leader of the human smuggling gang that was behind the fatal transport. The Northern Irishman also pleaded guilty in court to facilitating illegal migration.
The Vietnamese, aged between 15 and 44, were found dead in a refrigerated truck in Grays, not far from London, last October. Lack of oxygen and overheating had killed them.
The Northern Irishman’s confession is the second in the case. In April, the 39-year-old driver of the refrigerated truck in question also pleaded guilty to 39 manslaughter cases. Other suspects detained in the case deny involvement.
