Second collapse of Sultanganj Bridge captured in dramatic video in eastern India

A dramatic video shows the moment a bridge under construction collapsed in eastern India, as this is the second time that the Sultanganj Bridge has collapsed since the start of work on it in 2017.

According to Rakesh Kumar, a local resident, they felt “huge tremors and it looked like an explosion had occurred.”

It is not clear why the bridge collapsed last year or if the problems were rectified, while Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar indicated that local authorities had ordered an investigation into the incident.

For its part, CNN was unable to confirm the existence of reports of injuries.

The company behind the design and engineering of the bridge said it was “very concerned” about the safety and security of those affected by the accident, while our network reached out to construction company SP Songla who was constructing the bridge without any immediate response.
