For the second time in two weeks, an attack was committed on an apartment building in Fruithoflaan in Berchem. The perpetrators once again left a message for their target, a convicted drug criminal.
“Being thrown out of bed for the second time in two weeks is nice and different,” sighs a resident of the otherwise quiet Fruithoflaan in Berchem. The woman lives in one of the apartment buildings on the side of the Berchem Sport grounds and was startled by a loud bang in the street around 2:45 am.
Again, because a little more than two weeks ago it was already a success in the Fruithoflaan. Then unknown persons detonated an explosive in the entrance hall. The glass entrance door was shattered, but the message on the remaining windows was particularly striking: “Shady homo show me your power”.
On Saturday night the perpetrators targeted the same man, because again the same message can be read on the windows: “Chady, show you power #2” (sic). So part two. The door shattered again. The target of the attack, CK, lives in the apartment building but is said to be moving, according to neighbors. Last year he was sentenced to four years in prison by the criminal court in Antwerp in a drugs case.
Trace investigation
K. emerged in the investigation as a key figure within a criminal organization that was involved in the narcotics trade. He took preparatory actions with a view to importing drugs, but was also caught selling cocaine, MDMA, cannabis and ketamine.
The Antwerp police immediately arrived on the scene on Saturday night, but an inspection of the area turned out to be negative. The judicial lab and demining service Dovo carried out a trace investigation. The federal judicial police have started an investigation.
