SEC files lawsuit against Binance, world’s largest crypto exchange: Impact on Bitcoin and BNB prices

[인포스탁데일리=박정도 전문기자] The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed a lawsuit against Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange.

According to foreign media such as Reuters on the 5th (local time), the SEC filed a lawsuit against Binance and CEO Changpeng Zhao in the Washington DC Federal District Court on 13 charges related to securities-related violations.

As the news broke, the price of bitcoin fell 6% to its lowest level in three months.

The SEC alleged that Binance harmed investor interests by improperly managing billions of won in customer assets.

Previously, in March, it was sued by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission for violating regulations.

The impact of the SEC’s lawsuit has taken a toll on the cryptocurrency market. Bitcoin fell 6% to its lowest level in three months.

Binance’s own cryptocurrency, BNB, which is the world’s fourth-largest by market size, also fell more than 5%.
