Sébastien Arnouilh: “A breakthrough after these two difficult years”

Committed for several years at the ASB in the development of women’s practice, Sébastien Arnouilh and the leaders of the club want to believe in the future, after two very difficult years.

After these last two very disturbed years, do you feel a new impetus at the start of the season?

Yes quite. This momentum, we tried to put it in place at the end of last season. This allowed us to have a lot of recruits, and therefore to compensate for the few departures of players a little demotivated by the Covid. We have a lot of hope, especially since we will most likely have a team in the very first category of U6 – U8. We have a few girls already registered, all those who wish to join us will be welcome. The season is looking good, there is a clearing up after these two very difficult years.

Are you worried that the development of women’s practice, which has started in recent years, will be hampered by the context of the last two seasons?

No, I even think it will be the opposite. People, and especially young people, want freedom, to be able to express themselves again, to experience collective emotions. When you see the involvement of everyone at the start of the season, there is a lot of desire.

And also quite a few qualities within the different categories.

Yes, we have made a big leap there. In the club’s project, it would be great to bring the U18s up to the National U19s. Going into this category would concretize all our training work. Our goal for the future is to bring up all the players who shine in our youth categories in the first team. This is our ambition and we are trying to do everything to get there.

The ASB has just been awarded the “FFF Gold Level Football School Label”. What does this mean for the club?

Here again, this is something that rewards all our training work, as well as the investment and the quality of our educators. This encourages us to continue and even accentuate this work that we have been putting in place for a few years. With the obtaining of this Label, we are one of the best clubs in Occitanie in terms of female practice. Our ambition for the future is to confirm all of this by going even further.

The N2 tilts on the lawn of SCO Angers

While they had the opportunity to do a very good operation at the top of the table, the Biterrois fell, Saturday night, on the lawn of the SCO Angers reserve (2-0). Once again in difficulty in the game, the players of Colbert Marlot were unable to tell the difference. With this second defeat of the season, the second away, the ASB lost a few places and now occupies fifth position in the standings, already five lengths behind Angoulême, the leader. If they want to have a chance to play in this group of N2, the Héraultais will have to do more and imperatively react in the coming weeks. Starting with the fourth round of the Coupe de France, this weekend, on the lawn of Aigues-Mortes. Another big challenge for Captain Mostefa and his partners.
