Sebastian Yatra I had been keeping that secret for a long time, “but I can finally tell you that I’m going to be the protagonist in Broadway in the play Chicago“said the artist from Antioquia.
Broadway is the birthplace of American musical theatre, a privileged place that only great artists can reach, and now Yatra will be part of this work.
“I never cease to be surprised and thank life for these very special opportunities. I remember going to see Ricky Martin in Evita 12 years ago before launching myself as an artist, and now being about to live that same dream, blows my mind,” wrote the Colombian.
Yatra will be presented for only 4 weeks from November 25 to December 22 at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City and will play Billy Flynn, the lawyer who has never lost a case in his career and who mostly works on murders committed by wives.
The role in the 2002 film was played by the actor Richard GereThat film starred Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones alongside Richard Gere and won several Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Zeta-Jones.
Chicago, says People magazine, is the longest-running American musical in history and tells the story “of two female assassins who use their criminal notoriety to find fame on the vaudeville circuit.”
