Sebastian Vettel “The last Suzuka was a sad but dream weekend” / Japanese F1 GP[F1-Gate.com]

Sebastian Vettel finished 6th in the 2022 F1 Japanese GP final, which was “Last Suzuka”.

The last Suzuka race was unfortunately rained. “Obviously it was disappointing that we were only able to do half the race, but at least the people in the stands could see some races, so it was nice,” said Vettel.

“We were dry waiting for the restart, but it must have been quite uncomfortable to sit outside in the wet for a few hours.”

In the race, contact with Fernando Alonso (Alpine) on the first lap and spin on the gravel. fell to the bottom.

“I started very well, but at the first corner I collided with another car and I couldn’t see anything,” said Vettel.

“Maybe it was aquaplaning or maybe I made a mistake, but then I lost all the positions I had gained and went down to the bottom.”

However, when the safety car withdrew as the race resumed, it made a pit stop and switched from fully wet to intermediate. That strategy paid off and steadily climbed the rankings, taking the checkered flag in 6th place.

“When racing resumed, we made a good decision to box right away to move to Inter,” commented Sebastian Vettel.

“It was a great stop. After that I pushed like crazy and managed to cut most of the field.”

Sebastian Vettel, who will retire from F1 this year, has repeatedly spoken of his love for the Suzuka circuit this weekend.

“It was a dream weekend, eight points is a great result,” said Vettel.

“I’m sorry it was my last race here, but it was a fantastic weekend.”

“I can only say ‘thank you’ to all the wonderful Suzuka fans.”
