Sebastian Vettel poses a problem “Bianchi’s accident is not engraved in my mind” / F1 Japan GP[F1-Gate.com]

Sebastian Vettel is not sufficiently reminded of Jules Bianchi’s accident at the Suzuka circuit eight years ago when the recovered vehicle entered the track in the 2022 F1 Japanese GP final. I asked.

Shortly after the start of the Japanese Grand Prix, F1 drivers expressed their outrage when a tractor entered the circuit to retrieve Carlos Sainz Jr.’s crashed Ferrari.

Especially Pierre Gasly, who was returning to the pits to change his wing when the safety car came out, approached the recovery vehicle with very poor visibility due to the weather.

The incident, which coincided with the eventual death of Jules Bianchi in 2014 when he collided with a rescue vehicle in similar conditions, reignited the debate over the safety of F1 drivers.

After the race, Sebastian Vettel told Sky Sports F1 that Jules Bianchi’s accident “probably wasn’t remembered enough”.

The four-time F1 world champion believes there are measures that need to be considered to avoid creating another dangerous situation.

“There are a lot of things that have happened that have led to this situation. First of all we have to understand it,” said Sebastian Vettel.

“The whole grid was on the wrong tire. We should have blamed all of us, but no one should be blamed because we are all in the same pressure position.”

“There are intermediate tires that are much faster than extreme tires. Extreme tires are good for the conditions, but they are so slow that there is pressure to move on to the next tire. Improve to solve the problem. There is a need.”

“You can’t run if there’s water on the track. Maybe you don’t have enough drainage. We’ve known that for years. But one thing led to another and then Carlos fell off the track.”

“If you follow the spray in the car, you will have very little visibility. We are lucky that nothing has happened, but we have to understand it and make sure it does not happen.”
