Sebastian Vettel bids on parts of his F1 car at the charity auction[F1-Gate.com]

Sebastian Vettel won the sidewall of his F1 car at a charity auction.

Sebastian Vettel, who retired from F1 at the end of the season, was presented with the Gregor Grant Lifetime Achievement Award at the Autosport Awards on Monday in recognition of his long and successful F1 career. But Vettel didn’t just focus on the awards ceremony.

Sebastian Vettel was in the middle of an online auction for parts of his Aston Martin. The 35-year-old was keen to keep the AMR21 sidepods for his F1 collection.

“I’m looking to buy back the sidepods. What time is it now? Oops, it’s after eleven. Did you get the sidepods? I made an offer,” said Sebastian Vettel on the podium at the Autosport Awards.

“The team didn’t tell me about it. I can’t believe it. They’ve auctioned off my sidepod and I’m looking to buy it back. Not sure if I got it. I don’t have it”

In the end, it turned out that Sebastian Vettel won the auction and became the owner of his Aston Martin sidepod again.

Sebastian Vettel sold the item for £2,555.

When asked if he would miss racing, F1 retiree Sebastian Vettel said: “It’s something I love so much. I think it’s an opportunity to work with so many people who are doing it,” he commented.
