Uruguayan analyzes victory against Gil Vicente in a special game
Sebastián Coates was honored in Alvalade and was grateful to the fans, after the Leonine victory against Gil Vicente, which puts Sporting in the isolated lead in the championship.
“It was important to win, we started the match well but conceded a goal from a dead ball. Then we reacted well, managed to draw and, in the second half, we were superior. Of course, the goal before the break was important for us to enter the second half with greater peace of mind. Then we scored and, in the last 30 minutes, it was normal for us to lower our lines a little. The objective was to win”, said the Uruguayan central defender, speaking to Sporting TV.
“Isolated leadership? We knew that one of our opponents, in this case Benfica, had drawn in this round and if we won we would be isolated in first place. But it was also important to win at home, in front of our fans”, he commented.
“As for the tribute, I want to thank the fans and the entire team, the tribute was beautiful. Thank you everyone. How many games will I achieve? I don’t know, the first objective is always the team, only then will the individual goals arrive. We’ll see. ..”, he continued, before turning his focus to Guimarães.
“We have to get the three points and stay in first place. But now we have to rest”, concluded Coates, who will miss the game due to suspension.
