SEB Innovation Center Opens in New Premises on K. Barona Street in Riga

After moving to new premises, the SEB Innovation Center opened its doors on April 25. Initially, it was opened in 2018 and was located in Old Riga, but now it has moved to more accessible premises in Riga, on K. Barona Street. The SEB Innovation Center was created with the aim of creating a comfortable environment where entrepreneurs, cooperation partners and every member of society can be involved in various innovation activities.

SEB Innovation Centers in all the Baltic States create an environment for companies to flourish – a place where entrepreneurs can receive support, learn, collaborate and achieve their goals. This environment facilitates experimentation in collaboration with fintech, academia and businesses to build new, innovative partnerships.

“The goal of the SEB Innovation Team is to promote understanding of innovation management and entrepreneurship, to provide support to these ecosystems and to create new collaborations by engaging in co-creation. The new facilities are an aid to achieving these goals. They help create a creative environment where future business models for cooperation with other companies can be found. In general, the Innovation Center was created for everyone – both the bank’s customers and employees, as well as cooperation partners,” explains Ance Āboliņa, Head of Innovation at SEB banka.

The Innovation Center will also become home to various growth and development programs. Support for innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems is provided through various grant programs, mentoring entrepreneurs in various projects and providing support in the running of events. On the other hand, promotion of awareness about innovation management and entrepreneurship is created both through the Growth Program for the segment of small and medium-sized companies, and also internally through the Design Sprint for SEB employees and the YouthLAB practice for students.

“We are planning to add to our range of activities and are currently in the process of providing workshops to our clients, promoting idea management in cooperation with the Institute of Ideas and Innovations, and in cooperation with the Graduate School of the Growth Program “Patnis”, we are creating a workshop program for high school students during the summer period,” says Ance Clover.

In total, 83 companies have graduated from the SEB Growth Program, more than 350 students have participated in the YouthLAB internship program, more than 50 companies and associations have held various events in the premises of the Innovation Center, and 35 new concepts have been created, with more than 275 bank employees participating in the Design Sprint.
