Seattle’s Sounders defeated United of Minnesota 3-1 in MLS

With goals from Peru’s Raúl Ruidíaz and Uruguay’s Nicolás Lodeiro, the Seattle Sounders beat Minnesota United 3-1 on Sunday to end a three-game losing streak in MLS.

Ruidíaz scored in the 50th minute, Cristian Roldan in the 74th from a pass from the first and Lodeiro in the 94th. Robin Lod had put Minnesota ahead in the 34th minute.

The Sounders outshot United 17-12, eight of them at goal to four by United. The Sounders have a record of 3 wins, 1 draw, 5 losses.

Minnesota has lost three games in a row.

Stefan Frei saved three of four shots to save the Sounders. Dayne St. Clair saved five of eight for United.

Both teams play again on Wednesday. The Sounders visit the Houston Dynamo and United host the Los Angeles Galaxy.

In another game, Atlanta United tied 2-2 at home with the New England Revolution on Sunday with Brazilian Luiz Araujo scoring.

A pass from the Argentine Thiago Almada, Araujo got his goal in the 63rd minute for United (4 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses).

Adam Buksa scored two goals for the Revolution (3 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses).

Unite outshot the Revolution 23-12 and both had seven at the net.

United’s Bobby Shuttleworth saved five of seven shots and the Revolution’s Mat Turner five.

Both teams return to action on Saturday. United will visit Nashville and the Revolution to Cincinnati.
