The Spanish car manufacturer Seat reported on the results of the first half of the year. Progress is impressive, and the role of the sporty sub-brand Cupra is growing.
Seat has been the brainchild of the Volkswagen Group for many years. Last year too, it worked at a loss, but this year the picture has changed. In the first six months of 2023, an operating profit of 371 million euros was achieved, while sales increased by almost 38 percent to 7.411 billion euros, which is the best achievement in the history of the car manufacturer.
Deliveries increased by 28.1 percent to 261,400 units, of which 107,300 units were the Cupra’s contribution. This is almost 39,000 cars or 56.9 percent more than in the first half of 2022, and this is also a new record. During this time, the sales volume of Seat increased by 13.6 percent.
The best-selling model is the Cupra Formentor, which accounts for a quarter of all cars sold.
The main markets for the “Challenger Brand” (Seat’s name for its brand of high-performance and electric vehicles founded five years ago) are Germany, Great Britain and Spain.
Cupra is also represented in countries such as Australia, Morocco and Egypt. “Challenger Brand” brand cars are also available on the Latvian market.
