The managing director positions at four German airports were filled on time on 1 March. While the successors of the outgoing bosses are being presented in Bremen and Hanover, the management teams in Cologne and Stuttgart are once again fully formed.
In Bremen, Marc Cezanne has been appointed managing director of Bremen Airport. Cezanne and the former head of Bremen airport Elmar Kleinert should initially form a dual leadership. Early next year, Kleinert will leave the company of his own accord and hire Cezanne as sole chief, according to the airport announcement.
Over the next few months, Kleinert will gradually switch to Marc Cezanne. Cezanne was in charge of Paderborn/Lippstadt airport until mid-July last year. Previously he worked in the management of Lufthansa, Fraport and also of Air Berlin.

Similarly to Bremen, Hanover Airport has also temporarily appointed a second managing director, Martin Roll, to succeed Raoul Hille. Until the end of the year, Roll will be responsible for Human Resources, Corporate Development & Finance and Corporate Functions.

Hille will retire in late 2022 after 18 years as airport chief, Hanover Airport writes in a press release. In future, however, Roll will not manage the airport alone, but together with another new managing director, who will subsequently assume responsibility for the technical and operational processes. Roll comes from Persona Service, a staffing agency, and is an honorary professor of air traffic management.
Stuttgart Airport with double leadership

With immediate effect, Stuttgart Airport will once again be under dual management. According to the announcement, Ulrich Heppe is the new managing director for traffic, control and finance at the state-owned airport. Most recently, Heppe worked in the management of a large airport operator in India.
She succeeds Arina Freitag, who left the airport at the end of last year for Dutch electricity grid operator Tennet. The managing director responsible for non-aviation, Walter Schoefer, will remain management spokesman and labor director of the airport company.
Schmid comes from Dusseldorf
Cologne/Bonn Airport has also announced a change of management. Thilo Schmid is the new CEO of the Rhine Airport and forms it together with Torsten Wardrobe.

Schmid comes from Dusseldorf Airport. As Senior Vice President Aviation & Accountable Manager, he was responsible for all operational and commercial areas of the airport. He worked for the Lufthansa Group until he moved to Düsseldorf Airport in 2012 and held various management positions. Among other things, he has worked as managing director in both the freight and passenger areas.
