Jeddah: The Ministry of Health said it is an important requirement for seasonal flu sufferers to wear a mask to protect those around them. A mask is a protective shield that reduces the risk of infection through inhalation. Inhalation is one of the most common ways seasonal flu is transmitted. The use of a mask is mandatory in gatherings and health facilities.
The ministry made it clear that masks should also be worn when interacting with people with symptoms of infection as the risk of transmission is high. The Ministry has launched an awareness campaign on seasonal flu vaccination entitled ‘When you don’t want it’.
The campaign is aimed at vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with chronic diseases, immunocompromised people, pregnant women, healthcare professionals and the general public. The ministry said vaccination is safe and has no side effects.
